Junior Match Play

Often we get asked what is the best way to begin tennis? Unlike many other sports, tennis requires a certain set of skills to be mastered before being able to play a competitive match. Below outlines our junior pathway to enter into Interclub. We recommend that players have completed Green Ball level in the Hotshots programme or have been recommended by the coach to advance into interclub.

Club Night – Fridays 4:00-7:00pm (starts 6th September)

For players under 16 years. Contact Shannon 021 056 6643

  • Session 1 - 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm Interclub Preparation Group (8 max - limited numbers)
  • Session 2 -  5:00pm to 6:00 pm Matchplay 10s and 12s
  • Session 3 -  6:00pm to 7:00 pm Matchplay 14s and 16s

Our Junior Club Night is more structured than the senior night with the following format:

In session 1, we are introducing the game of tennis to our up and coming Interclub players. This includes the rules, scoring, and etiquette of tennis. We offer this to those that have completed the Green Stage of the coaching programme or have been recommended by our Club Coach.

In session 2 and 3, this is targetted at our existing Interclub players (both Begineer and Open Interclub)  that would like to practice the skills and lessons that have been taught through the week in a game enviornment. The format is 3 x 20-minute games.

Please register your interest in Session 1 with the Junior Interclub Coordinator: Shannon on 021 05 666 43 as numbers are limited for each term.

Beyond Interclub

For our Juniors there is life beyond Interclub. Many of our juniors continue to play in tournments and series competitions throughout the year, please refer to our Club Coach for more information regarding performance pathways and tournaments beyond Interclub.
